AN INNOVATIVE new dry verge capping system is being launched by Kestrel Building Products. Kestrel Dry Verge System is specifically designed for quick and easy fixing and promises to make verge capping significantly more affordable.
The concept of Kestrel Dry Verge System centers on its unique flexibility in installation. The verge caps are fixed directly to the bargeboard with screws and spacers, eliminating the need to remove cement, tiles or replace tiling battens associated with many existing products.

Unlike conventional interlock systems, the caps do not need to be clipped together. Instead, Kestrel dry verge caps simply screw to each other, allowing easy positioning to ensure a correct fit. Made from High Density Polyethylene (HDPE), the caps are also easy to cut, so they can be 'nibbled' to the correct size with shears during installation.
The wide-mouthed design of the caps ensures effective water resistant coverage of the tile, cement and undercloak. They are available in slate grey or brown, with a matching round ridge closure. All visible fixings are recessed into the product surface and covered by a colour-matched cap.
Says Paul Neilson, Managing Director of Kestrel-BCE: ‘Our team has worked carefully to solve the problem of unwieldy and expensive verge capping on existing roofs. As a result, many more privately-owned homes, as well as public sector and housing association stocks can be better protected from the elements at a reasonable price.’
‘For installers it has opened up tremendous new market opportunities - they can now offer to fit dry verge systems to properties where previously it would not have been justified financially.’
